I made some videos..well they were videos then I took the video part out and left it with audio.

I also decided to create a youtube account for this one because YouTube is easy to use and I'm ALWAYS on that dang site.

Here's a audio clip of my cover of Call Me When You're Sober by Evanescence. =]
It's not very good because I'm still working out the kinks.

Here's a BRAND new song that I've learned on piano. This song was just released by Fall Out Boy so I had to figure it out by ear and I still don't have the chords memorized in my head so there's a lot of spots where I pause or mess up. It's not the entire song either. Either way, Fall Out Boy did a phenomenal job on this song and it's my favorite song.

I apologize for it ending on a bad note too ahah.

What have I been up to?

Not much. I've been playing the drums as usual and I'm getting the hang of this double bass pedal stuff.

I've also been playing a lot of the piano (I guess that's more than "not much.") I've figured out the new Fall Out Boy song called, "What A Catch, Donnie" which is not only by one of my all time favorite bands but also includes people from my other favorite bands AND Elvis Costello. It's a phenomenal song and I've figured it out on piano. I've been perfecting it and I plan on videoing it for this blog. I need to hurry fast while I'm still kind of sick because my voice is kind of deep and it requires it haha. I've also been working on a John Lennon song called "Mother" and various Evanescence songs (some on piano and some on the guitar).

But yeah..that's it.

Here are some pictures from me meeting the band and some concert pictures. =]
This is not nearly all of them (I actually took almost 200 pictures). These are just a few of my favorites (comments at the bottom of each picture).

For some reason blogger cut off some of the side on the right. >:-|

William Beckett (lead singer - The Academy Is)

The Butcher (Drummer - The Academy Is)

My lover from The Academy Is aka Mike Carden (Guitarist)

Adam T. Siska (Bass - the academy is)

Michael Guy Chislett (He's actually a hunk but he was just opening his mouth to say something when I snapped the picture..he's not drunk...but at least I look okay haha).

My mom with Jersey and Cassidee from Hey Monday.

Jersey talking to me on the phone haha. I later met him inside the venue and he went back out and told my parents he met me.

Hey Monday

Jersey from Hey Monday

William Beckett of the Academy Is with Hey Monday.

The guy from Carolina Liar that liked me. He sang directly to me and was on his knees singing to me and then I asked him from the crowd for a pick and he waited until he could stop playing and reached down to grab my hand to make sure I specifically got the pick instead of someone else.

Carolina Liar

Hunter from We The Kings

I know it's dark but this is Travis from We The Kings (I met him over the summer).

William Beckett.

Mi amor.

Beckett.

This is my favorite out of all.

Drums

I think my last project is going to be a drum spectacular or something. So I've been working really hard on a song in particular that's pretty difficult for me considering I'm still a fairly new drummer. It's called Bat Country and it's by Avenged Sevenfold. It's rather diffucult especially since I have such a basic drum set and I'm not very good.

Here is the original song:

The picture is of my drums and The Rev's drums (the drummer in Avenged Sevenfold) can be found here: http://a589.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/55/l_e4b9b4167e22ebfc5ea0c41054800074.jpg
YES. I took that picture. =]

Time To Dance!

I did this song a few weeks ago when we were first starting the project. This is one of the first few times I played this song. It's not me shredding or doing crazy guitar stunts..it's just rhythm stuff on the acoustic. It's one of my favorite songs. =]

Don't mind my random facial expressions. I was concentrating and occasionally looking at the computer gosh darn it. :P

Time To Dance Cover from Academic Gee on Vimeo.

The original song can be heard on youtube (the link below). I screwed it up a little...

Note* Panic! At The Disco never made a video to this song and this was the only version of the song that I could find that wasn't mixed. So excuse the Final Fantasy clips. Just listen. =]

This week...

This week I worked on a song on the piano. I decided to make a cover to Kanye West's song, "Love Lockdown." It sounds much different that the original song because it's on the piano instead of just having two different instruments...
With my voice mixed with the piano on my song it sounds like a song you'd hear Doris Day singing in a movie or something - it sounds quite pretty.

I think doing covers on different instruments is always good because it gives you more experience with music all together.

First Post

This post will probably be viewed by Bruce and only Bruce! So hello to you, Bruce.

I figured that this blog would be an easy way to keep track week by week about what I have been doing in my "directed studies" project. It will be easier for me to put down my ideas and document what I've done since I'm on the computer for hours at a whack and I won't leave behind a paper trail (save the trees!).

Anyway, I'll have more posts up here soon and I'll post about the first few weeks of the project and what I did. I think I even have a video but it's not of the drums.
